Cre8 Joinery Solutions continues massive investment in new machinery and people…

As we wrap up our jobs for 2014 and look forward to exciting projects and opportunities in 2015, we’re continuing to invest in both the best staff and the best machinery in the business. It’s been a busy and successful year, meaning that the group is on target to reach its projected turnover of £10 million for the year.

Vive la difference

We’re so pleased to announce our new Senior Project Manager at Cre8 joinery Solutions: Paris Mandrides.

Paris, who joins us from Vascroft Contractors Ltd, has an extensive CV that highlights his long-standing experience in the joinery trade, building on the obvious bedrock of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Three Dimensional Design & Making from Manchester University.

Paris describes himself as logically minded three-dimensional designer and experienced bespoke furniture and cabinetmaker/fabricator. He now manages joinery projects for Cre8, including workshop production and installations for both high-end residential and commercial joinery packages. As someone who spends his spare time visiting the local boxing gym to keep fit, with Paris on the team, we’re ably equipped to deliver ‘knockout’ results at all project levels.

Onward march of the machines

Cre8 Joinery Solutions also continues to invest heavily on the hardware side, with the addition of a new five axis Homag Venture 316L CNC machine, at a considerable cost of £123,000 + VAT.

The new CNC builds on our production capabilities and overall production versatility across the board. In addition to 12kW high performance five-axis technology as it adds panel and solid wood processing to our productive, industry-leading mix of machinery.

Add high speed drilling and groove sawing to its versatile suite of features, and this new, substantial investment adds further to the Cre8 Joinery Solution's production capabilities.

Our second purchase from the Homag suite of products is a new Joos BEU 90 hydraulic press. These precision engineered presses run and run without any issues, providing our clients with top quality bonding day after day, week after week. Featuring state of the art heating technology, the BEU 90 itself is designed for pressing veneer, paper foil and continuous pressure and high pressure laminates onto wooden substrates such as chip board, plywood, MDF or similar solid boards.

The new kit doesn’t end there, either. In the last few months we have completed installation of a new externally sited dust extraction system to cover the expanding joinery workshop. This replaces a number of older and smaller individual units that were dotted around the workshop. The new unit provides us with centralised dust collection, allowing us to incinerate this in our biomass boiler system.

Cre8 Joinery Solutions also has a new invertor driven compressor covering whole site. With the recent acquisitions of new machinery our existing compressors were at capacity during certain times of the day. To overcome this issue we have invested in a larger invertor driven screw compressor, which will give us extra capacity, but being variable speed it will also save electricity by adapting its speed throughout the day.

A further investment is in that of four new delivery vans. Each of our delivery vehicles covers around 50,000 miles per annum each, so the mileage becomes high over a very short period. With this in mind we have purchased four new VW Crafter panel and Luton style vans. The bodies on these vans are especially made for us to fulfill a vast range of different loading and delivery requirements. The vehicles include full smart satellite navigation and the latest fuel-efficient engines.

New Cre8 satellite office in Suffolk

In addition to the new machinery and expanding staff at Cr8 Joinery, we have recently opened a new satellite drawing office in East Bergholt, Suffolk (near Colchester).

“The office is primarily to run our new Solidworks drawing software that will enable full material take-offs and optimization along with enhancing our ability to fully utilise our new five axis CNC machine,” further explains Cre8 Joinery Director Phillip Gay.

New projects successfully completed

While all the above has been going on, we have continued to push forward with many joinery fit out projects on multiple fronts.

We recently completed a prestigious job on time and to budget for one happy client in Omada Capital, just off Oxford Street in London. This included the eye-catching installation of a tropical fish tank separating the main office from the boardroom, manufactured from our proprietary, trademarked Duraglas product.

In fact this stunning office fit out acted as a showcase for the whole spectrum of our products and bespoke joinery. The brief was for an office space that needed to combine a contemporary look with a open airy feel. We think we achieved this via the inclusion of stunning touches such as the large marine fish tanks, glass doors and extensive panelling.

Also memorable for its high-end features and fittings is the recently completed Cre8 Joinery Solutions job in association with Morgan Lovell for Two Sigma 15th floor city tower in Basinghall Street, London. We built, supplied and fitted the following: stained oak unit fronts to carcasses, oak shelving, our proprietary grey Duraglas, gloss panelled doors, slate effect worktops, plus we fitted a tea point, slate grey tiled floor and patterned ceiling raft.

Another memorable job this year was our colouful and inventive office fit out for the memorably named US technology firm  ‘Splunk’. A project undertaken in association with Morgan Lovell, this included interior spaces, which, among other things, resembled a train carriage.

Splunk, at 3 Sheldon Square, London, was subsequently named as one of the Top Ten Office Spaces in the World in a 2015 Report on Global Cities by Knight Frank, which described the open plan office space as ‘reflecting its brand values of innovation, disruption, openness and fun, while referencing the location of the office, adjacent to Paddington Station’. The open plan office has phone booths, a Tardis style demo room, plus a Pullman carriage that acts as a meeting room – not something you see every day!

Other successful Cre8 Joinery office fit out projects have included Berenburg Bank at 60 Threadneedle Street, London for our client Square Metre, along with a separate high-end residential fit out in the prestigious St Katherine’s Dock in the heart of the city. This included the design, supply and fitting of funky children’s bedroom furniture and a climbing wall, as well as clean and contemporary bathroom spaces.

Our high-end work continued with a fit out for a sizeable commercial project in Curzon Street, London, where the client was a high-end business consultancy. Our creative contribution included a veneered planter feature in the reception to hide columns and add a storage space for coats.

Above and beyond that, the project also included the installation of our trademarked Qubewall storage wall product, which is being developing and expanded upon all the time, along with feature wall display shelves and even a tea point constructed using reclaimed materials.
